These pictures were shot during my travel on Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe. We travelled around the lake with a houseboat for 8 days. The lake is an artificial lake created in the 60s, for electricity production. We can find those dead and mineralized trees all around the lake, which are the leftovers of the flora before this bassin was flooded. In the evening, those trees, combined with all kinds of wildlife sounds, can give a creepy impression. Those trees are hollow, and are the perfect habitat for small bats. When we passed along the trees, and were very quiet, we could hear them squeak. Our guides also recommended us to smell just above a hole, never again.

A fierce morning wind storm made this image a challenge to pull off from the shore of Lake Pehoe (pronounced Pay-Way) in Torres del Paine National Park. The storm cloud partially obscuring Cerro Paine Grande and the Cuernos massif lit up like a light bulb as soon as the sun rose above the mountains out of the frame on the right. The wind gusts were so bad that I had to keep both hands locked onto my tripod legs as I pressed a remote shutter release that I held tightly in one hand. Looking back on it now, it was a magical moment. But what I remember about living through that moment was that my camera would be flung into the water if I let go of the tripod even for a second.
